As per advisory of PAGASA, the on-set of rainy season had just started. In line with this, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-12/DENR provides advisories on areas prone to Landslide and Flooding brought about by strong rains.
Please take note that the municipalities and barangays of the provinces of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani and the barangays of cities of Koronadal, Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong and General Santos with mountainous terrain are prone to landslide and valley/flood plains are prone to flooding.
Landslide is the downward movement of materials (soil and rocks) under the direct influence of gravity. Rain and water play an important role in the occurrence of landslide. While flood is the rising and overflowing of body of water that overtop the riverbanks in any part of its course covering land that is normally under water. The months of June to December are usually the rainy months in SOCCSKSARGEN area. During these months, the probabilities for the occurrence of landslide and flooding are very high. Read More

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII conducted capability training on ArcGIS mapping using Global Positioning System (GPS) to the local Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.

Two (2) employees of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region XII attended training on web migration and development using Joomla 3.4.8 content management system (CMS) at Icon Hotel, Timog, Quezon City on May 24-27, 2016.
They were trained on the content, structure and design of the government website following the Philippine Uniform Website Content Policy (UWCP). Furthermore, installation, configuration and secure administration of the web was taught. Mr. Gregorio E. Iyo, Jr., an accredited trainer of the Department of Science and Technology-Information Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICTO) and presently the Information Systems Analyst II of the Department of Energy is the resource speaker for the entire duration of the training.
